Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This privacy policy explains the data practices of Lulani ("the App"), a pregnancy tracking app for iOS distributed through the Apple App Store. In this policy "we," "our," and "us" refer to Adam Neumann, the individual developer of the App.

Simple truth: your pregnancy stays on your phone. Lulani has no user accounts and no servers. We never receive your pregnancy data, we do not use analytics or advertising, and we do not sell or share your information with anyone.

We understand that pregnancy information is among the most sensitive data a person can record. The App is built so that there is nowhere for that data to go: it is stored on your device, and it leaves your device only if you deliberately export or share it yourself.

2. Data You Enter, Stored on Your Device

Everything you create in Lulani is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's on-device storage (SwiftData and the app's own file container). This includes:

• Pregnancy details: due date, last menstrual period if you enter one, ultrasound corrections, region, and the preferences you choose during onboarding (such as whether this is your first pregnancy, or what you want the app to focus on)
• Appointments: titles, dates, questions you plan to ask, and your notes from the visit
• Journal entries: dates, notes, mood, symptom tags, and any photos you attach
• Photos: images you add to journal entries are copied into the App's private storage on your device
• Checklists: hospital bag and preparation lists, including items you add yourself
• Birth plan: the choices and free-text notes you record
• Kick sessions and contraction timings
• Weight entries, if you choose to log them
• App settings: language and region, units, reminder preferences, and whether you have purchased premium

This data is never transmitted to us. We have no server that could receive it and no account system that could identify you.

3. What We Do Not Collect

• No accounts: the App has no sign-up, no login, no email address, and no password. You are never asked to identify yourself.
• No analytics or tracking: the App contains no analytics or attribution SDKs - no Google Analytics, no Firebase, no Facebook SDK, no third-party crash reporting.
• No advertising: there are no ads and no advertising identifiers. We do not track you across apps or websites, and the App does not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt because it does not track.
• No location data: the App never requests or accesses your location.
• No contacts, calendar, microphone, or health data: the App does not request access to your contacts, calendar, microphone, or Apple Health / HealthKit data.
• No device identifiers: we do not collect device IDs, IDFA, or hardware identifiers.
• No data brokers: we do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone, for any purpose, including advertising and "personalisation."

4. Photos

If you attach a photo to a journal entry, iOS shows you its own photo picker. The App receives only the images you specifically select - it does not get access to your photo library as a whole. Selected images are compressed and saved into the App's private storage on your device, and are deleted from that storage when you delete the entry or the photo. Photos are never uploaded.

5. Notifications and Reminders

The App may ask permission to send notifications, used only for reminders you set up:

• Appointment reminders before a visit you have added
• Weekly reminders with the task for your current pregnancy week
• Kick counting reminders, if you enable them

All notifications are scheduled locally on your device by iOS. There are no push notifications from a server, so no notification content or device push token ever reaches us. Notifications are optional and can be turned off in the App or in iOS Settings at any time.

6. Purchases

Lulani is free to download and offers an optional one-time premium purchase. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit:

• We never see or receive your name, payment card, or billing details.
• The App checks your purchase entitlement with the App Store and stores only a simple "premium: yes/no" flag on your device.
• You can restore a previous purchase at any time using the "Restore" option on the premium screen.
• Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

7. Exports, Sharing, and Support Emails

Some data leaves your device only when you deliberately choose to send it:

• PDF exports: you can export your birth plan, appointment preparation, or journal as a PDF and share or print it through the standard iOS share sheet. The PDF is generated on your device. Once you share it, where it goes is determined by the app or service you send it to - not by us.
• Support email: if you tap a support link, the App opens your own mail app with a pre-filled message that includes the App version and your device model and iOS version, so we can help without asking you for your setup. Nothing is sent until you press send, you can edit or delete any of it, and your pregnancy data is never attached. Emails you send us arrive in an ordinary email inbox and are kept only as long as needed to answer you.
• App Store review prompts: the App may ask Apple to show its standard rating prompt after you complete a milestone. Any rating or review you leave is handled by Apple; we receive no personal information from it.
• Source links: tapping a link to a medical source opens that organisation's website in your browser, where their own privacy policy applies.

8. Third-Party Services

Lulani uses no third-party SDKs for analytics, advertising, attribution, crash reporting, or AI. The only external parties involved in normal use are:

• Apple, for App Store distribution, in-app purchases, and any device backup you have enabled
• Your own email provider, if you choose to contact support
• Websites you open yourself from links in the App

The App's guidance content is written from published material by public health bodies and professional organisations (including ACOG, CDC, AAP, MedlinePlus, March of Dimes, and USPSTF) and is bundled inside the App itself. None of these organisations receive any data about you, and none of them endorse, review, or are affiliated with the App.

9. Device Backups

Because your data lives on your device, it is included in whatever backup you have configured for your iPhone - iCloud Backup or an encrypted computer backup. Those backups are controlled entirely by you and by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy; we have no access to them. You can exclude the App from iCloud Backup in iOS Settings if you prefer, though this means your pregnancy data would not be restored to a new device.

10. Your Control Over Your Data

Because nothing is held by us, you exercise every right directly, on your device:

• Access: all your data is visible in the App
• Correction: every entry can be edited, including your due date and ultrasound corrections
• Export / portability: export your birth plan, appointment prep, or journal as a PDF
• Deletion: delete individual entries in the App, use the reset option in Settings to clear your pregnancy data, or delete the App to remove all of its data from your device

We cannot delete data on your behalf, because we never had a copy of it. Note that deleting the App does not delete data already contained in a device backup you made earlier, and does not cancel or refund your App Store purchase.

11. Health Data and Special Category Information

Pregnancy information is treated as health data - "special category" personal data under the GDPR and sensitive personal information under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act. We handle it in the strongest way available: we do not collect it at all. It is processed only locally on your device, under your control, for the purpose of showing it back to you.

We do not, and will not, use pregnancy data for advertising, profiling, research, model training, or disclosure to third parties, and we will not respond to requests for such data with data we do not hold.

12. European and UK Privacy Rights (GDPR)

For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland: because the App stores data locally on your own device and transmits none of it to us, we do not act as a data controller for your pregnancy data, and there is no processing by us on which to base a request. Your rights of access, rectification, portability, erasure, and restriction are exercised directly through the App as described in section 10.

If you email us for support, we process the contents of your email and the technical details it contains for the legitimate interest of answering you, and we delete it when it is no longer needed. You may ask us to delete your support correspondence at any time using the contact details below, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

13. Data Security

• On-device protection: your data is protected by iOS app sandboxing and device encryption, which is active whenever your iPhone has a passcode set. We recommend using a passcode and keeping iOS up to date.
• No server-side breach surface: we operate no servers and hold no user database, so there is no central store of pregnancy data to be breached.
• Shared devices: anyone who can unlock your iPhone can open the App, as it has no separate passcode. If your device is shared, consider iOS Screen Time restrictions or a device passcode others do not know.

14. Children's Privacy

The App is intended for adults and older teenagers who are pregnant or supporting someone who is. It is not directed at children under 13, and it collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.

15. Not Medical Advice

Lulani offers general educational information, not medical advice. Every pregnancy is different - always follow the guidance of your doctor or midwife, and contact them about anything that worries you. In an emergency, call your local emergency number. 16. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy as the App changes. If we do, we will:

• Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
• Post the revised policy here
• Describe material changes in the App's release notes, and in the App itself where the change affects how your data is handled

If a future version of the App ever introduces optional cloud sync or any other feature that would send your data off your device, it will be opt-in, clearly explained before you enable it, and described here first.
